- Yep, the new millenium is right around the corner. Hope you had a nice Christmas (to those who celebrate). My humble Christmas present comes as a new DOS driver version :-)
- As already posted on the mailing list, is a new video chipset support, Intel's i810/i815 integrated graphics adapter. It's untested, though. The docs are good, so with a bit of feedback, I think we can fine tune this, if necessary.
- S3 ViRGE chipset fixed. I never tested this card, and when I did, I found out the DOS version was running the wrong S3 code. Fortunately, under Windows, you could run it fine using the Trio32/64 chipset option, so I suggest you use this until I update the Windows code.
- More details and features on the Download page.
- See you all next year!!! Off to party!...8-P
- Some broken links were fixed.
- Motorola MC1377 application circuit fixed. There was a small error in the VGA pinout relative to RGB ground pins. Not too problematic.
- Windows VGATV driver updated (small changes)
- WinVGASetup program updated. Fixed bug with the .SYS driver when unloading.
- Added a compatibility list to the hardware page.
I consider S3 development to have ended for now, until I get info on the Savages as the file I had was not complete, unfortunately. Therefore I'll continue with a new chipset support tonight. I'll announce it if I get good results :-)
- All S3 Trio3D/2X video modes working (Win2K).
- All about it on the download page...
- Go to it from the download page.
- The new version of this utility is now available. Improvement lies on S3 support, for debugging purposes (mine and yours). If you're having problems with S3 cards, use this tool when reporting back problems. Write for assistance on using it.
- My new e-mail address is paulo.coelho@lis2.siemens.pt. Hopefully for a long time...:-)
- As I told on the mailing list, I'll be changing my job and starting Monday my e-mail address will be obviously different. Unfortunately, if you try to use my "virtual" address, psergio@radiolink.net, you'll still end up sending mail to pcoelho@marktest.pt, because NetForward is currently under maintenance and disabled account changes, so I can't update it for now.
Therefore, I arranged for 2 alternatives: first, my current job's address will continue to work for a couple more weeks, but all mail will be redirected to pscoelho@oninet.pt, at least for now. Second, you can send mail directly to this address already.
Note however, that this inconvenience should last only a few days. If you normally use NetForward's radiolink.net address, you should continue to do so.
- ...with Analog Devices related information.
- Added final Trio32/64 support to the driver.
- Hardware page updated with more information regarding video modes, TVs and connection methods.
After last week's release, this intermediate version adds some support for the Trio32/64 cards. All modes are working, except 15/16 bit modes. NTSC resolution tables are now updated so the driver is once again operational in this regard.
FAQ updated.
As promised, this is the VGATV version that fully supports the S3 card. Discounting some extra testing I'll do the following days on other S3 cards, the one used is 99% functional. Go to the Download page for more details...and to the driver!
One of the things I've been wanting to do, was a Windows version of VGASETUP. This utility, as old as VGATV itself, is my best tool to debug video modes. As such, it's useful only for the developers among you. It's also useful to me, when I need to know what's going when you complain it doesn't work (on supported chipsets, of course). More informations on the Developer's page.
You can now download the latest version of VGATV for DOS. It's a bug fix version regarding text modes. Was complicated...
As you can see, this site's layout changed dramatically.
There isn't a big increase on available information; it just became more organized. Growing up and maintenance gets easier now.
Hope you enjoy the new site. I know some of you won't like the colours or something else, but I can't please everyone. Still, if you have any constructive suggestions, please, tell me.
Regarding the other projects, I'll be updating the pages soon. This one just had priority over the rest.
The FAQ has also been revised again, since some of its questions made no sense anymore. The rest of the pages have also been checked up for spelling errors and information accuracy.
Finally, some action on this neighbourhood...
I won't write too much, as there's a new website coming up one of these days.
I just want to say that I've returned to development, this weekend, after more than a year without writing a line of code. It was tough to get back to assembly, Delphi, argh! Fortunately, things are going ok now. Expect good stuff from now on.
The new DOS driver posted here, today, fixes a problem with text fonts on some programs (that tried to set their own character set), and by request of a Russian fellow, I've added support to the Realtek range of cards. Just to get back in shape.
The Windows version is under development. I'm going to base it for now on an S3 Trio3D/2X AGP card, since it supports a fair amount of video modes in DOS already. Yesterday I've been fixing the whole interface up, and now it works great. It is being done under Windows 2000 Professional, so you know it works there too.
Enjoy..!
